TriAxis uses PLS-POLE for both linear and non-linear analysis and design of transmission line structures. The non-linear analysis accounts for the second order geometric effects due to deflection (sometimes called the “P-delta” effect). PLS-POLE calculates stresses in each structural member and compares them to allowable values. Typical uses are:

• Checking the design of an existing structure for a given set of design loads


• Checking the design of an existing structure as spotted in an actual line model (direct link from PLS-CADD)


• Developing a table of allowable wind and weight spans for a range of line angles and for a given design criteria
