VANSYCLE WIND PROJECT
Helix, Oregon

OWNER—FPL ENERGY
Juno Beach, Florida

TriAxis provided design of twin overhead and underground 34.5-kV power collection circuits (one for each string of wind turbine generators) with pad mount step-up transformers. The project included approximately 4 miles of underground 34.5-kV cable, 4 miles of 34.5-kV overhead transmission line, and twin multi-fiber communication cables, one for each string of wind turbine generators. The project also included design of a 34.5/69-kV, 25 MVA step-up substation, with control/SCADA building, dual 34.5-kV circuit breakers, power autotransformer and 69-kV circuit switcher to tap the existing 69-kV BPA transmission line.

We provided all electrical system design services. Construction plan/profile and assembly drawings were developed using the latest version of AutoCAD software. Other software, such as Alcoa’s SAG-TEN program, was used to check conductor sizing and other design aspects.

Other services provided during this project included services during construction, bid reviews, and contract award recommendations.
